Topic: Journaling Inspiration and Benefits
The other day, I caught myself looking for negativity in the world.
I was on a social media website and chose to go in search for something that would make me unhappy with the world. There is so much out there to choose from. When I realized what I was doing, I stopped hard. If there were sound effects in this newsletter, you would hear tires screeching on pavement. I’m surprised I don’t have whiplash.
I’m the person who was inspired to journal two statements of gratitude daily, five years ago, and felt a change in my outlook within a month. I’m the person who had others asking me what I was doing to have such a good outlook. We were special education teachers attempting to provide services to our students during COVID!
Journaling gratitude taught me that the more we look for gratitude, the more we will see how many things we have to be grateful for.
At that time, I wanted to talk and write about journaling gratitude. Everyone should be doing it. I started my first newsletter to share my revelations. The world needs as much positivity as it can get.
And here I am, five years later, looking for negativity. Where is my inspiration? I need to get back to my journaling roots.
Regardless of your reason for beginning to journal, chances are you continued the practice because you experienced the benefits.
My journaling roots are in gratitude. Seeing the world through a lens of gratitude helped me be a better person. I was nicer to be around.
It’s easy to stray and get caught up in the chaos that the world offers. Journaling is your opportunity to flush out your demons and go inside yourself to find the good. I found it through gratitude. You may find it by reflecting on joy, kindness, or one of the many positive components in your life or environment.
I need to up the ante on my statement of gratitude and tell why I am grateful. My gratitude doesn’t need to be grand; it needs to be meaningful to me.
Journaling gratitude changed me and my small corner of the world. Now I need to return to my journaling roots to continue what I’ve started. My corner of the world depends on me.
Have you stayed on your journaling path?
